Presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis has made headlines after firing approximately a dozen staffers, with more terminations expected in the coming weeks.

This development comes less than two months into his campaign, raising concerns about the state of his presidential bid.

During an appearance on Maria Bartiromo's Sunday Morning Futures in early July, DeSantis faced tough questions about the perceived lack of progress in his campaign. Bartiromo referred to a Politico playbook headline that read, "FAILURE TO LAUNCH — Florida Gov. RON DeSANTIS' campaign to topple DONALD TRUMP has stalled."

This prompted speculation among conservatives about what went wrong with DeSantis' campaign and why the initial hype surrounding his candidacy seemed to fizzle out.

According to a campaign memo allegedly released by Team DeSantis to his donors, NBC News reported that the campaign had brought on too many people, resulting in a high burn rate. Despite warnings from some Republican sources, the campaign manager disregarded these concerns. As a result, DeSantis' stock has not risen as expected, with one donor expressing disappointment that his popularity stands at only twenty percent.

These developments have not gone unnoticed, with grumblings among supporters and donors about DeSantis' lackluster performance. Many had anticipated a more dynamic and impactful campaign, but have been left underwhelmed by the current state of affairs.

As DeSantis continues his bid for the presidency, it remains to be seen how he will address these setbacks and regain the momentum that was once associated with his candidacy.
