{UAH} The 5th of October 2023, a very big test for Museveni and regime
That's tomorrow in the morning when H.E. Bobi Wine Kyagulanyi will be landing at Entebbe International Airport from a three-week long tour of Canada, USA and South Africa where he has had the occasion to meet important personalities and thousands of Ugandans residing there.
-- On his stepping on the tarmac an expected three million people will cheer him all along from the airport to his home in Magere. The organizers want his convoy to drive to Kampala through the old Kampala-Entebbe Highway which can easily accommodate such big numbers of supporters well-wishers and vehicles.Ugandans from almost every corner of the country have started their journey to Entebbe.I It's going to be a day full of triumph just as have been the visits abroad and the countrywide tours Kyagulanyi has been making in the past weeks. And the entire international community is taking interest in this October 5, a day which would remind them of the events of November 2020 if there is police and military brutality against the very many innocent unarmed civilians. The world will stand watchful and will naturally be in favour of a massive triumphant success which will be the only quick assessment on whether Uganda under Museveni respects all codes on human rights and the legally constitutionally granted freedom of speech and lawful assembly. It's here that Uganda is badly noted by all international actors on anything regarding the Geneva convention on all these matters. Therefore this welcome shouldn't be frustrated by a regime which now very badly needs a facelift in these moments that compel the ICC to react on Uganda and suggest punishment. Actually, for the time being, the world is only hearing of probable NRM rumour-mongers who move around distributing cash and confirming to citizens how the planned welcome event won't be a success for lack of interest from the masses, etc.. And they also inform their public of the security forces' readiness to use tear-gas to disperse any crowds within the precincts of the famed airport. But the NUP organizers responsible for the programme have made it clear that the police or the security forces at large would be wrong to teargas innocent civilians when there is no law forbidding citizens from welcoming a visitor or a fellow citizen at the airport.Such threats
are indeed very childish and uncalled for. The security forces have just got to play one major role, and that's to protect the people. And that's all! They shouldn't listen to what some naive politicians, with a passion for jealousy, would air into their minds. Kyagulanyi is a man of peace who commands a lot of respect from the entire global world community, and therefore his presence at Entebbe International Airport, surrounded by his relatives and supporters and admirers shouldn't be an occasion to summon violence from the security forces.
Okay, let's wait for the great day which some circles have declared a public holiday to welcome H.E. Kyagulanyi from his trip abroad. The mood will be festive and nothing beyond that. The very triumphant return will just be a moment that will continue to crown Kyagulanyi as a living Ugandan celebrity who conquers every angle through that unfailing action which has endeared him to all opinions and sentiments all over the world. And he will be landing at Entebbe with that reputation in his handbag.
And let Ugandans see for the first time their security forces acting with full maturity before a very highly dignified leader and world respected statesman.
