Kamala Harris's presidential campaign has introduced a policy that necessitates all potential employees to be current with their COVID-19 vaccinations.

This move comes despite the Biden-Harris administration's decision to terminate COVID-19 vaccine mandates for federal employees and contractors in May 2023.

As reported by The Post Millennial, the official website for the Harris and Tim Walz campaign lists job opportunities with a compulsory requirement for COVID-19 vaccination as part of the qualifications. The website clearly states, “Harris for President requires all employees to be ‘up to date’ on COVID-19 vaccination status as prescribed by the CDC as a condition of employment, unless otherwise prohibited by applicable law.” It further advises those seeking reasonable accommodation in relation to the campaign’s COVID-19 policy to consult the HR Department before reporting to an office location.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to advocate for individuals to maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status for 2023-2024. The CDC defines "up to date" vaccination status as having received one age-appropriate updated COVID-19 vaccine, while for those over 65, it necessitates two doses.

The introduction of this requirement is intriguing, given the Biden-Harris administration's decision to end the COVID-19 vaccine mandates for federal employees and contractors in May 2023, which aligned with the conclusion of the public health emergency declaration for COVID-19. The White House, at the time, asserted in a statement that the vaccination requirements had “helped ensure the safety of workers in critical workforces including those in the healthcare and education sectors, protecting themselves and the populations they serve, and strengthening their ability to provide services without disruptions to operations.”

This move by the Harris campaign raises questions about the consistency of the administration's stance on vaccination mandates, and whether this policy could potentially deter potential employees who may not align with the campaign's vaccination requirements.
