Senator Cotton EXPOSES NBC's Lies After Trump Honors The Fallen At Arlington Cemetery

The recent visit of former President Donald Trump to Arlington National Cemetery has sparked a media frenzy, with accusations of a breach in decorum during a wreath-laying ceremony for the 13 American service members killed at the Abbey Gate during the Afghanistan withdrawal.

As reported by RedState, the media's portrayal of the event has been largely negative, despite the fact that the Gold Star families involved had invited Trump and requested to take photos with him.

The media's narrative was further fueled by Maggie Haberman of The New York Times, who contacted the mother of one of the soldiers named on a gravestone for a reaction. Vice President Kamala Harris also entered the fray, releasing a statement criticizing Trump's respect for America's war dead. This led to a backlash from eight Gold Star families present at the ceremony, who released video statements criticizing Harris and noting her refusal to meet with them.

Despite the families' rebuttal, the media continued to push the narrative. During a Sunday morning interview on NBC News, journalist Kristen Welker questioned Sen. Tom Cotton about the appropriateness of creating campaign content at military grave sites. Cotton responded, "[Trump] didn't take campaign photos there. These families, Gold Star families, whose children died due to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's incompetence, invited him to the cemetery, and they asked him to take those photos."

Cotton further pointed out that the families had also invited President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris, neither of whom attended the ceremony. He stated, "Joe Biden was sitting at a beach. Kamala Harris was sitting at her mansion in Washington, DC. She was four miles away. Ten minutes. She could've gone to the cemetery and honor the sacrifice of those young men and women, but she hasn't. She never has spoken to them or taken a meeting with them." https://x.com/ByronYork/status/1830074205192241442/photo/1

When Welker countered that Biden and Harris had met with the families during the dignified transfer, Cotton responded, "It is because of her and Joe Biden's incompetence that those 13 Americans were killed in Afghanistan."

Cotton's rebuttal to Welker's claims is not a display of political maneuvering, but a statement of fact. The accusation that Trump used the Arlington National Cemetery visit for campaign content is unfounded. None of the photos taken with the families have been used in a political context by the Trump campaign.

The media's bias in this matter is evident in their contrasting reactions to similar actions by politicians from different parties. When John McCain filmed himself walking among the gravestones, he was criticized by the press. However, when Barack Obama and Joe Biden did the same, the media remained silent. The media's selective outrage becomes apparent when a Republican honors the fallen, turning it into a scandal.

Welker's insistence that Harris was present at the dignified transfer, despite Cotton's statement that she has never met with the Abbey Gate Gold Star families, is a clear misrepresentation of the facts. Harris was not present at the transfer, and all attempts by the families to connect with her since have been rejected. Biden was present, but his behavior, including checking his watch multiple times, was seen as disrespectful.
