UNRA demolishes Rukutana's multibillion hotel

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has on Wednesday afternoon razed Deputy Attorney General Hon Mwesigwa Rukutana's Millennium hotel found in Zzana on Entebbe road.

Part of the hotel was extended in the road reserve.

Rukutana was informed earlier by UNRA officials and he complied.

"This is the level of voluntary compliance we have been encouraging for all persons whose structures are in the road reserves," Allan Ssempebwa, UNRA manager media relations said.

The operation to pull down illegal structures on Entebbe road began last week after the authority secured a court order.

Some of the building affected include Nyondo bar in Najjanankumbi a few kilo metres from the capital city.

UNRA is still carrying out systematic evictions of all encroachers who are still operating from road reserves.

However, according to online news site The Investigator, UNRA offered shs 10 billion as compensation for Rukutana.
