A British woman suffered a broken spine, pelvis and leg after falling from a fifth-floor balcony after a row with a rapper fiance at his Kenyan home.

Tinu Collins, 25, from Manchester, said she slipped and fell from a balcony following an argument with her partner, who lives in the affluent Westlands district of Nairobi.

She broke her left leg, right ankle, pelvis and spine in the fall, at around 11pm on June 12, but somehow survived.

Miss Collins' friends have now launched a fundraising drive to pay for hertreatment as she doesn't have medical insurance.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News from her Nairobi hospital bed, Miss Collins said: 'I just had an operation yesterday. I'm feeling a bit better now.'

Explaining how she fell, she said: 'Basically I was a bit drunk sitting on the balcony to get a bit of fresh air. I was having an argument with my boyfriend. My foot slipped.

'I grabbed onto the railings to pull myself up, but I couldn't and fell from the fifth floor. I was conscious when I fell.'

She added: 'I'm very lucky to be alive.'

Miss Collins' fiancé, a London-based rapper known as Trapking Chrome, who divides his time between the UK and Kenya, told the newspaper: 'She was a bit tipsy sitting on the balcony. She slipped and tried to hold onto the bar. She fell all the way down. It happened so fast.

'I ran downstairs immediately. She was laying down on the floor, screaming.

'That's how I knew she was alive, because she was making a noise.

'I thought she had died. It's pretty high up. But she's alive. Thank God she's alive.'

He confirmed he was spoken to by police, but vehemently denied 'rumours' in the Kenyan media that he had pushed his fiancée.

He added: 'Everyone's saying I'm the one who's pushed my fiancée, but the truth is I didn't push her.

'I was in the living room. She went outside to get some fresh air and she slipped. It happened in a matter of seconds.'

A police investigation into the incident was continuing, he said.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: 'We are providing assistance to a British woman, who was hospitalised in Kenya, and her family. We are also in touch with local authorities.'

The National Police Service in Kenya has yet to comment.
