It takes grit to be different
Sheer guts to be strong,
To cut through resistance
And make right what is wrong,
To engage with compassion
Let hushed voices speak,
Whose lives have been crippled
And whose outlook is bleak.

It takes grit to be different
And make right what is wrong,
Ridiculed by those
Whose wealth makes them strong,
To address major issues
That the mighty ignore,
As they mask inequality 
So, the few can have more.

It takes grit to be different
Sheer guts to be strong,
To cut through resistance
And make right what is wrong,
To stand up for the vulnerable
Disadvantaged and aged,
To tackle growing poverty 
An epidemic that's raged.

It takes grit to be different
And make right what is wrong,
Ridiculed by those
Whose wealth makes them strong,
To challenge their policies
Rotten to the core,
To fight for the rights 
Of the homeless and poor.

It takes grit to be different
Sheer guts to be strong,
To cut through resistance
And make right what is wrong,
To stand up for our children
Their future, their youth,
To deliver a message 
With sincerity and truth.
