{UAH} VP Ssekandi expected to attend UK investment convention

Frank Mujabi,

The Uganda Convention rumbles into town again- and again the formula is the same. They are going to have a round table discussion of Ugandan agriculture. Read below. The strange thing is the new High Commissioner, Mr Julius Peter Moto, is a friend of mine- so I will keep a distance from it. I know some people are planning a picket- some want to make a citizen's  arrest of Kadagga and Sekandi and any other minister who turns up.

Vice President Edward Ssekandi is expected at the annual Uganda Convention UK (UCUK) on  September 16 in London.

The convention will start with a networking breakfast intended at attracting investors to Uganda.

Mr Julius Peter Mato, Uganda's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland will brief about Uganda, as an emerging economic power.

Thereafter, Lord Popat (Ugandan who is currently UK's representative to Rwanda and Uganda) will give an international perspective on increasing UK's exports, developing bilateral trade with Uganda in light of shifting trade patterns and how to attract UK investors to Uganda.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga will address delegates on government's plans to unite Ugandans in the Diaspora, including Asians of Ugandan decent.

Delegates will have a round table discussion on Uganda's agricultural potential – policies, incentives, trade facilitation and agro-infrastructure investment opportunities.

Various sessions will involve investors' testimonies on how to tap into international markets, access to cheap finance, mechanisation and how Uganda can increase the productivity of small scale farmers and increasing value addition.

The roundtable discussion will lead to a panel  that will moderated by Ms Maggie Kigozi with panellists like Mr Kin Kariisa, CEO NBS TV,  MP Cecilia Ogwal, Mr Simon Kagugube, the executive director of Centenary Bank, among others.

Dr Ian Clarke will take delegates through his story as an investor in Uganda.

Another success story will come from Dr Nandawula Kanyerezi Mutema, a Ugandan who lived in Diaspora for two decades before returning to set up a clinic.
