Gen David Tinyefuza has temporarily cancelled his return back to Uganda
Sources close to the general tell The Observer that he has chosen to 'postpone' his return.
The reasons for the postponement are not entirely clear, but a source very close to Tinye speaks of the general not being ready "to be arrested like a cockroach".
The source referred to increased security in Kampala, where some armoured vehicles have been seen today, and Entebbe, where some residents spoke of a noticeably higher military presence.
Although this may not be out of the ordinary, it appears Sejusa's handlers have interpreted it as attempts to arrest him were he to return tomorrow.
Quoting aides, The Observer reported today, Friday, that Sejusa would fly in from London tomorrow. Aides said he would address the press to clarify – and, apparently contextualise – the apparent fallout with the UPDF.
Tinye, who now serves as the coordinator of intelligence services, hit the headlines again this week, after Daily Monitor reported a letter he wrote to President Museveni, written through the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) calling for an investigation into rumoured plans to assassinate top army officers perceived to be opposed to attempts to propel First son Brig Muhoozi Kainerugaba to the presidency.
The Ugandan state says Sejusa is being investigated over attempts to overthrow the government, and four of his aides have reportedly been arrested. --
