[UAH] Every Parent Has A "Project Muhoozi"...

Blog: The Smoking Gun

Uganda is today awash with talk of a "Project Muhoozi" where Museveni's son, Brig. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is allegedly being fast-tracked through the military ranks and prepared by his father to become the next president of Uganda.

Many have heard of this "Project" for years, but the issue was never as deadly as it appears.

"Deadly" because the implementation of the "project", as explained by the Coordinator of intelligence recently, involves recruiting and placing pro-Muhoozi cadres in strategic military and government positions, while "assassinating" those against the project.

Obviously, if this route to a Muhoozi' presidency were real, it is already facing resistance.

Government officials, in rubbishing Gen. Sejusa's allegations of an assassination plot, have now pointed out that there is only one constitutional way for Muhoozi to become President if he so desires.

That kind of pronouncement is a double-edged boomerang and those talking might have to face their own words in due course depending on what Museveni actually wants for his son.

My opinion is that the general public hasn't had a chance to know Brig. Muhoozi politically, and those who have been close to him, (mainly close cadres) say he doesn't have the stamina to be commander in chief nor president.

That was the case of the late Brig. Noble Mayombo whom we have been told by the press that he used to openly express his dissatisfaction with Muhoozi including in public fora and especially when drunk.

To the late Brig. Mayombo, the presidents son was incompetent and always will be. Period.

As a former Director of Military Intelligence and a close confidant to Museveni, (he was once M7's Aide-de-Camp and very close to the family), the late Brig. Mayombo would then go about telling of encounters on which he based his judgement.

But if the presidents' son is what the late Brigadier said he is, then Museveni already knows it even better than anyone else.

He is the father!

So now comes Gen. David Sejusa, Uganda's chief spy, with operational details of a possible Project Muhoozi assassination hit-list which, if it is real, could also lead the public to say that the late Mayombo was one of the first targets.

The late Brig. Mayombo was allegedly killed by poison in 2007, remember?!

One thing for sure is that any parent usually has some aspirations for his son, just like any father would.

So Museveni definitely has a "Project Muhoozi".

But even if he is planning, preparing, arranging and assassinating for it, the boy could still be either naturally incompetent for national leadership as Museveni already knows, or he might have other ideas in commerce and industry after military duty just like his uncle Gen. Saleh.

All the arrests, deployment of security agents, search of offices, Sejusa's exile to the UK and Museveni's "Project Muhoozi" could just be for nothing.
