[UAH] Gautemala

My friends,

I am so sick and tired about Guatemala. We presented evidence of over
4,000 people murdered. I spoke to their relatives in person, face to
face, in their compounds and living rooms as they recounted how their
loved ones were murdered or made to disappear.

The court in Gautemala made the couragoeus decision to sentence
General Rios Mont to 80 years imprisonment for having committed these
crimes against humanity and war crimes in which more than 200,000
people, mainly Mayan villagers, were massacreed.

Now under pressure from the USA government, the Guatemalan highest
court has over-turned the decision of the court and has ordered a
fresh trial because of what they call irregularities. Yet I spent 9
months in Guatemala putting together piece by piece evidence of 4001
Guatemalan citizens murdered or disappeared by the ruling military
junta led by General Rios Mont and others who succeeded him.

I am very disappointed that so many years and months that I spent in
Guatemala has not borne fruit and has not delivered justice to the
victims.

The Guatemalan people are just a piece in a poker game, sad to say.
