[UAH] IS THE QUEEN ON THE EXIT LAUNGE? just asking !!!!!!
Presence of heir to the British throne Prince Charles at this year's state
opening of the parliament for the first time in 17 years has unleashed a
wave of speculation that he is preparing to take over the throne from his
mother Queen Elizabeth.
On Wednesday, Prince Charles, along with his wife accompanied the Queen to
the houses of parliament for the queen's speech.
Charles's first such appearance in 17 years and the fact that his wife was
wearing a tiara formerly worn by Queen Mother gave rise to speculations
that the Queen could be considering abdication or creation of a regency.
The speculations were especially strong because the episode followed news
that Charles will represent the Queen at the Commonwealth summit in Sri
Lanka in November.
However, the Buckingham Palace has rejected the possibility of a regency
saying the Queen is completely healthy.
Regencies are only made when the monarch is too ill to rule and the Queen
herself has repeatedly said that she feels it her duty to continue to
"serve" as the monarch, but facts on the ground suggest differently.
After all, it goes without saying that the Queen devolved many
responsibilities to younger royals, including Charles himself, during her
Diamond Jubilee last year.
On Wednesday, Charles sat on her right hand as his mother delivered her
speech to the parliament.
Clarence House said it was only a show of support by the Prince of Wales
for her mother, but the position remains a strong indication of the royal
family's future in Britain
