[UAH] Remember this fellow Ugandans
All Ugandans are born free and equal in rights and dignity. Rights are God given, not privileges that leaders can give and take away. A leader can make you a minister and withdraw it but a leader can't take away your right to own property for example because owning property including land is a human right. When a leader violates your right you get it back by any means appropriate.
What is happening in Uganda regarding land grab is a political issue that must be addressed through a political process. Setting up a land court could trick many people who don't have what it takes to go through court proceedings. To avoid temptation to go to court, Uganda should reject the proposed land court which the well connected will use to legalize illegal acquisition of land from the powerless. We also need to examine seriously Museveni's insistence on willing seller and willing buyer. This is a trick to help the powerful to grab land from the powerless. I will address this issue in one of my programs on Radio Munansi.
Museveni says there is public land in Uganda including Buganda mile land which he can dish out as he wishes. There is no such a thing in Uganda. All land belongs to the people. It may be entrusted to the government for safe keeping but it is not for the government to dish out to anyone without concurrence of the people who own it.
Nobody is born to rule others automatically much less to succeed their parents. Therefore the idea floating around that Muhozi will succeed his father should have no place in Uganda's political discourse. The presidency of Uganda is not hereditary and not for sale. Both father and son know or should that.
