[UAH] The UK govt is giving out travel advice to its Citizens planning to Travel to Uganda

Summary

The FCO advise against all travel to parts of the country.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all travel to Karamoja region in north eastern Uganda (the districts of Kotido, Moroto, Nakapiripirit, Katakwi, Kaabong) with the exception of trips to Kidepo Valley National Park, which you should make by air. See Local Travel

There were demonstrations outside the offices of the Daily Monitor newspaper in the Namuwongo area of Kampala on 28 May. There are reports that tear gas and rubber bullets were used to disperse protesters. We advise all British Nationals to exercise caution and avoid all demonstrations, and to continue monitoring travel advice.

Avoid travel by road outside major towns at night, except between Kampala and the airport at Entebbe. See Crime

Some political demonstrations have become violent without warning. See Political situation

There is a general threat from terrorism. See Terrorism

Around 15,000 British nationals visit Uganda every year. Most visits are trouble-free.

Take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before you travel.
