Police have charged Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda with incitement to violence and defaming President Museveni after he allegedly called him a thief at a rally.

Mr Ssemujju, who was released yesterday evening, said he told nine detectives who interrogated him that President Museveni had himself made the same confessions about the theft of funds while he was in Rwanda.

"I told them that in all the deals investigated by Parliament in which the government has lost money, Mr Museveni's hand has been seen from Dura cement deal to junk army helicopters," he said.

Police claim Mr Ssemujju and Luweero Woman MP Brenda Nabukenya incited violence while addressing a crowd at Mulago playground early this month.

The rally was organised by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago to brief city dwellers about his petition to Parliament on the suspected mismanagement in the Kampala Capital City Authority.

MP Nabukenya, who had earlier declined to appear at police, finally recorded a statement and was charged with incitement to violence. Deputy Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said when the investigations are done, they will take the file to the DPP tions for advice.
