[UAH] ADOPT - A - PRIEST PRAYER PROGRAM:

"Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren" (Luke 22:31).

 

Please adopt a priest or priests and offer prayers, fasting and your sufferings; such a combination is very redemptive when done as often and regularly as possible.  You may include those priest/s whom you know are in need of prayers urgently.  As a Church, we are all one body of Christ, and as such we shall be called to account for our failure to offer prayers and supplication for one another, especially our priests who are constantly targeted by the Adversary - the devil. 

 

Below find the two prayers and please print out as many copies as possible and spread the prayer drive beginning right from your household, parish to the diocese:

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS (1)

 

Gracious and loving God, we thank You for the gift of our priests.  Through them we experience your presence in the sacraments.  Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.  Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding and strength they need to follow the footsteps of Jesus.  Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.  Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.  Help them become instruments of your divine grace.

 

We pray most especially for Fr. _____________________.  We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our eternal Priest.  Amen.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS (2)

 

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother Mary wrap her mantle around your priests, and through her intercession, strengthen them for their ministry.  We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words:  "Do whatever He tells you" (John 2:5).

 

May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary's most chaste spouse.  May the Blessed Mother's own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross.  May your priests be holy, filled with the fire of your love, seeking nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls.  Amen.

 

We pray very particularly for Fr. _____________________________.  St. John Vianney, patron of priests, pray for us for our priests.
