Bananas being cooked, and usually they are tucked in with banana leaves and steamed...beautiful taste. This Matooke prepared this way is called 'emeere ebobedde. Or etooke eribobedde' in Luganda.cooked matooke is referred to as emeere...although that is a collective term for all foods. But in Baganda most people refer to matooke as the mere and the other foods by their names. If there is no matooke on the menu, then people will say that there was no food. Meaning nothing worth mentioning.

why these people are cooking or preparing food in the middle of a banana plantation?

During functions like introduction ceremonies and funerals because of the amount of food involved and the fact that the heat emitted by the cooking needs wide airy place hence the cooking out doors. This is the way when you have last funeral rights the way they prepare food in the plantation .The plantation might be right behind the house or behind the kitchen (efumbiro). You can see that the pot is so big sort might have been some sort of function.

Staple food in Uganda

If one food that was to define Uganda matoke would be it. The simple plantain based food is a staple for most of the country, especially central areas like Kampala and Entebbe. On market days big bunches of green plantains are brought in from the country side, and quickly sold across the city. Making the dish requires a surprising amount of skill and patience. Women often take on this responsibility; coupling the small plantains in their hands they glide a knife between the skin and actual plantain, until it is released. Once the plantains are pealed they are wrapped in banana leaves and steamed over water until they turn yellow and soft. The texture-less dish has a slight bitter flavor due to the banana leaves, and is almost reminiscent of mashed potatoes.

2.The environmental group in Uganda called JEEP, or Joint Energy and Environment Projects is one of many organizations in the developing world that are promoting more efficient cookstoves. Here is an example of the efficient cookstove being promoted by the Ugandan environmental group JEEP.similar cookstoves with clay were used in the 50s in Uganda. Later they were replaced with the gas cooker and electric ovens.

3.More than 95% of Ugandans rely on fuel wood for cooking, typically charcoal or wood for urban dwellers and wood for rural households. The current stoves used for cooking have low efficiency and this increases the amount of fuel wood needed to prepare a meal. Greenhouse gas emissions are released into the atmosphere during fuel wood burning, as well as the release of particulate particles during cooking leading to indoor air pollution. It also leads to deforestation which in turn cause soil erosion resulting in flash floods in times of heavy rain, but thee spies on forums hate us when we expose the flooding in Uganda.

4.This is how nearly 3 billion people in the developing world cook their food and heat their homes, with dirty, inefficient stoves that billow smoke. They cause health problems—such as emphysema, heart disease, and lung cancer—for those who use them.In one region of Uganda, 20 to 30 percent of gender-based violence incidents are estimated to occur when women are out collecting firewood.it's usually women and children who collect firewood in the forests, and this can be a dangerous place for them. The greenery is so thick, someone could easily hide and watch you. And the din of the forest masks even nearby sounds. Inside forests like this, rape and sexual assault are common.Women and children walk farther and farther distances to get wood as the nearby wood gets picked up.

5.Muwogo from Uganda is the best .The Yuca from Mexico is the second best to Uganda muwogo.Ugandans abroad get the frozen and also fresh, It tastes good boiled with little salt.
