Uganda's escalating corruption scandals in high places started with the appointments of the president's brothers, sisters, in-laws, and other relatives in powerful offices - a phenomenon described as nepotism.
When President Museveni failed to punish the likes of Salim Saleh and Sam Kutesa, he had no moral authority/political will to fight corruption at cabinet level. Ugandans to me seem to accept the rubbish that is being served up by these criminals.
So I have to ask: what was the fight against the Obote & Amin regimes all about in the first place? Was it to replace one dictatorship with another more appealing one?
What is Museveni's excuse! Corruption could be stamped out tomorrow if he put Uganda's best interests before his own. He is the appointing authority and it is not only the foot soldiers who have been implicated, but his close confidantes' have also been implicated.

Under Museveni Uganda has sank to such a level that even clerics see nothing wrong with showing support to a man who has been sent to prison for corruption. I stand to be corrected but I have not seen catholic clerics visiting those sent to prison for political reasons.
Patronage is the order of the day that even clerics have been seduced to look the other way. In the last 27 years the Ugandan society has become so immoral that no institution is immune from corruption. I am sick and tired of the Museveni apologists as the buck stops with him whichever way you look it.
The sad truth is that Museveni is corrupt but most Ugandans live in denial. The analogy is of a victim of infidelity who does not want to accept that all the evidence points to their partner having an affair. They are worried that they may not be able to walk away from the relationship as they have been made to believe that there is no other alternative.

Ladies and Gentlemen, It is official. There is no rule of law in Mr. Museveni's Uganda.
He is Alpha and the Omega of UBC, the Kayunga land debacle, the promotion of police officers, the management of KCC, the news publications, the bypass accident funds, the mobile phone and you name it....Somebody help and remove this guy

What was the reason for going to the bush against them? Can someone remind me? Does anyone know..or does anyone care at all?Amin, lasted less than 10 years in power before he was ejected from office.
Obote's second term was about half that of Amin's, and the Lutwa regime was far shorter. I doubt any of them had the advantage of time and goodwill from Ugandans to settle in and be allowed to deliver their policies, putting to one side what Ugandans thought about these regimes.
What surprises me, is that despite that, the NRM/NRA regime, after over 27 years, are performing no better, and even worse, in many cases, than the previous 'backward, brutal dictatorships' they fought long and hard to remove.
