[UAH] PRAYER REQUEST FOR KIP AND KIP

Ugandan athletes are ridiculously known for going perpetually AWOL after first win and never to repeat any wins. Will the Kip we all know with a gorgeous wife (daiyymmm...!) do Uganda another miracle? I highly doubt but with prayers, he still can.

Thing abt Uganda is, you win a gold medal, you become more famous and adored than the president. In kenya is a different story. With gold medals running everywhere like a mad Mukiga, the winner simply fades back ti Rift Valley like nothing happened. I would rather be a Ugandan winner than a Kenyan one.

Uganda: Kiprotich Gears Up for World Championships

BY JAMES BAKAMA, 14 JULY 2013

STEPHEN Kiprotich is enjoying the company of fellow Ugandans Jackson Kiprop and Abraham Kiplimo in final preparations for the Moscow World Athletics Championships.

The marathon trio is making final touches for next month's event together with the Kenya national side in Eldoret.

"Training is good. Kiplimo and Kiprop are also fine. We should be able to put up a good performance in Moscow," said Kiprotich after yesterday's morning training in the Kenya highlands.

Kiprotich says the only drawback is the temperature. "It's really hot here. But anyway, I can't complain because the other athletes are also experiencing the same in Kapchorwa."

Long distance runners on the Moscow bound team are training from Kapchorwa, Bukwo and Kenya while those in the other events are mainly based at Namboole.

The London Olympics gold medalist is however reserved when it comes to talking about his medal prospects in Moscow. "I won't talk about that. All I ask of Ugandans is morale boosting. We need your support."

The Ugandans are being coached by Patrick Sang, a 1992 Olympics and 1991 and 1993 World Championships steeplechase silver medalist.

Sang, who is assisted Richard Mettoh, drew the training program that helped Kiprotich strike gold in London.

After shining in London, Kiprotich finished sixth in the Virgin London marathon early this year. Moscow gives him an opportunity to make it back to the medal podium.

Kiprotich ran a personal best in the marathon of 2:07:20 in 2011 at the Enschede Marathon in the Netherlands, which set a new course record and a new Ugandan record in the 42 kilometer race.

The time gave him a slot on Uganda's team for the Daegu World Championships where he finished ninth. He finished third in the 2012 Tokyo Marathon with a time of 2:07:50.

Davis Kamoga (silver) and Dorcas Inzikuru (gold) are the only Ugandans who have won medals at the senior version of the world championships.
