{UAH} REMINDER(2):ISLAMIC CALL UNIVERSITY STILL NEEDS YOU THOUGH ITS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN

REMINDER:Folks,This year on 20th January, 2012, a new university called Islamic Call University (ICU)/ College was opened up. It is provisionally located at Old Kampala Hill where Gadafi National Mosque is. The chairman of the Electoral Commission, Engineer Badru Kiggundu, is the first Chairman of the university Council while Dr. Moses Mukiibi Katende is the first Principal.

The central purposes of any University are the pursuit of truth, the discovery of new knowledge through scholarship and research, the study and reasoned criticism of intellectual and cultural traditions, the teaching and general development of students to help them become creative individuals and productive citizens of a pluralistic environment, and the transmission of knowledge and learning to a society at large.

However, ICU cannot achieve this without the help of those who value education. Like everything new, money is the problem. The university needs money, books, computers, donations,………… to put in place a permanent mechanism where students can be effectively taught. If you are abroad and have got a load of books, computers or any of reading materials you wish to ship to Uganda for the benefit of this institution, please get in touch with them as soon as possible.

Yes, many of these students would no doubt do well at other already established elite universities in Uganda, but let's us look at this as another adventure that may be beneficial to the education of our kids in future.

Islamic Call University College to Commence Classes in August

The Chairman of the Islamic Call University College Eng. Dr. Badru Kigundu has announced the commencement of classes at the University College located at the National Mosque – UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala.

This was in addition to the announcement he made after Juma Prayers of Friday July 26^th.

According to Dr. Kiggundu, classes for the 2013/2014 will start in August with short courses in Arabic Language, Swahili Language, English Language and Computer Applications.

"Undergraduate and some diploma programs will commence in January 2014" Dr. Kiggundu said adding that those who are willing to learn and improve their skills in the listed courses should pick forms from the university college located at the National Mosque.

He commended His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje for the role he played in lobbying for the University and urged Muslims in Uganda to support the university by enrolling for classes and contributing financially towards its sustainability.

Dr. Kiggundu was speaking shortly after the Juma prayers that were led by the Imam of the National Mosque who also doubles as the UMSC Director of Sharia Sheikh Hussein Rajab Kakooza.

His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje was part of the congregation that was in tens of thousands.

The Khutuba (Friday Sermon) was delivered by the Deputy Imam of the National Mosque Sheikh Abdul Kadir Mbogo.
