{UAH} REMINDER:ISLAMIC CALL UNIVERSITY STILL NEEDS YOU THOUGH ITS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN

REMINDER:Folks,This year on 20th January, 2012, a new university called Islamic Call University (ICU)/ College was opened up. It is provisionally located at Old Kampala Hill where Gadafi National Mosque is. The chairman of the Electoral Commission, Engineer Badru Kiggundu, is the first Chairman of the university Council while Dr. Moses Mukiibi Katende is the first Principal.

The central purposes of any University are the pursuit of truth, the discovery of new knowledge through scholarship and research, the study and reasoned criticism of intellectual and cultural traditions, the teaching and general development of students to help them become creative individuals and productive citizens of a pluralistic environment, and the transmission of knowledge and learning to a society at large.

However, ICU cannot achieve this without the help of those who value education. Like everything new, money is the problem. The university needs money, books, computers, donations,………… to put in place a permanent mechanism where students can be effectively taught. If you are abroad and have got a load of books, computers or any of reading materials you wish to ship to Uganda for the benefit of this institution, please get in touch with them as soon as possible.

Yes, many of these students would no doubt do well at other already established elite universities in Uganda, but let's us look at this as another adventure that may be beneficial to the education of our kids in future.

Al Mustafa Islamic College Director Meets Mufti

The Principal Director of Al Mustafa Islamic College - Uganda branch Mr. Saeid Shams met His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje on Wednesday July 24^th in his office at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala.

The meeting was part of the Mufti's ongoing efforts to boost education among Muslims in Uganda. During the meeting, the Mufti told his guest that UMSC emphasizes both secular and Islamic education through the department of Education and Social Services.

"We have very few Islamic universities and schools in Uganda yet the demand for them among Muslims is high" the Mufti said adding that the best way to promote unity and development is through education.

The Mufti appealed to Mr. Shams to open up Al Mustafa Islamic College to qualified Ugandan Muslim students so that they can acquire the latest and relevant skills needed to develop themselves and their country.

"Iran has advanced technologically. We also need your technology here because very few Muslims can afford to take their children to Europe and America to study the latest technology especially in the Oil industry" the Mufti noted.

Mr. Shams assured the Mufti of continued support from Al Mustafa Islamic College especially in the area of education.

"Science and technology is the corner stone of development and we are ready to support you in your efforts to boost science education and other life skills for Muslims in Uganda" Mr. Shams assured the Mufti. He also pledged to contribute towards the establishment of an Islamic TV in Uganda by UMSC.

The two distanced themselves from the ongoing turbulence in some Muslim countries saying that Islam does not allow Muslims to fight or kill each other the way it is happening in Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt and Somalia among others.

"At UMSC, we do not have battles with any Muslim. We have the same blood and we all believe in the Oneness of Allah and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW" noted the Mufti.

The meeting was also attended by UMSC senior management officials.

Mr. Shams later met Haji Nsereko Mutumba, the UMSC spokesperson in his office and they discussed a wide range of issues.
