Ugandan to hang for drug trafficking

ALOR SETAR: The High Court handed the death penalty to an Ugandan who was found guilty of drug trafficking last year here Wednesday.

Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab, when handing the death penalty to Emmanuel Muwonge, 34, said the prosecution had proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Emmanuel was accused of trafficking 427.9gm of metamphetamine and 14,256.8gm of cannabis near a Petronas Service Station in Tanah Merah, Jitra at 11.55pm on May 14, 2011.

The prosecution was led by DPP Noor Shuhada Mohd Yatim while the accused was represented by Ai Cha Ran. – Bernama
