Kenya: Ex-UK officer dies in home robbery

2013-08-26 14:05Nairobi - A Kenyan police official says robbers killed a retired British military officer over the weekend after raiding his home and stealing, among other things, $3 and bottles of wine.

Marius Tum said on Monday that the five robbers raided the home of retired Lieutenant Colonel David Parkinson, 58, and his wife Sonja, 52, in Laikipia, 200km north of Nairobi.

Tum says Sonja was tied up but she managed to escape and hide in a store room. He says it's not clear what happened after that but it's likely David bled to death from a deep cut on his left bicep. The robbers also stole a laptop during the  01:00 on Sunday incident.
