The pictures show a swamp at Namaliiri on the Mukono Kayunga road. The swamp is being systematically drained for Sugar Cane growing. Here you can see a drainage channel that has been excavated and now the water is gushing through. The culprit company is closely associated with a sugar company notorious for taking protected areas. When they started growing sugarcane next to the swamp about 2 years ago, they left the swamp intact. Now it has been invaded. The culverts in the picture were always submerged, the water clear and the entire trading centre of Namaliiri relied on it as a source of water. Where are the authorities?
