Eastern Province: 15 armed men attacked the town of Bangalu

Fifteen armed men suspected to be rebel Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) attacked the town of Bangalu in Eastern Province, Saturday, Aug. 31. Sources of local civil society said Tuesday, Sept. 3 that his militia foraging plundered granaries and shops.Jean-Pierre Moikima, administrator Niangara territory where the contested town, said that the military authority of Dungu promised to dislodge the militia of this town.

These armed men operating from the Catholic chapel abandoned Bangalu they have occupied for three weeks, says the administrator of the territory.

Armed with guns and machetes, these men took away the food of the population and seeds of rice, beans and corn.

Two days before the raid, they ambushed a group of breeders Mbororo who went to the city of Niangara from the Central African Republic. They had kidnapped two Mbororos ten cows and delighted with these farmers.
