{UAH} WHO CAN UNRAVEL THE JIGGLE SAW PUZZLE?
Allow me to ask just for curiosity: supposing Badru Kakungulu had not embraced Islam like Kabaka Mutesa I did, would Mutesa II have become King of Buganda?
MORE QUESTIONS: Why is it that some Baganda, especially very old ganda men, treat Kassim Nakibinge as if he is king to the point of prostrating before him? A king and prince almost wield same powers. just watch Eddie Murphy Coming to America and prove me right.
Is there any chance of Buganda ever getting a Muslim Katikiro?MORE QUESTIONS: Why is it that some Baganda, especially very old ganda men, treat Kassim Nakibinge as if he is king to the point of prostrating before him? Just for clarification, Prince Nakibinge is a son to Badru kakungulu who was son to Nuhu Mbogo a brother to Muteesa 1. Both were children of Suuna ,apparently Mbogo was first in line to the throne but because he had converted to Islam and under pressure he the Europeans and Muteesa 1's influential and tough mother (Namasole) he ceded the his claim on the throne under an unwritten agreement to remain with ernomus royal privileges. These privileges were even reflected in the 1900 buganda agreement which catered for the Muhamadan prince and his mother Given around 20 square miles. This mutual existence and respect between Mengo hill and Kibuli hill has gone on for over 100years it's reflect also a delicate religious balancing act. That's why Badru Kakungulu in honor of that was influential in raising a younger prince Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.
So probably if Nuhu Mbogo had become kabaka, there would have been kabaka Badru Kakungulu and later Kabaka Kassim Nakibinge. There wouldn't have been Mutesa1,Kaweesa, kalema, Mwanga, Daudi Chwa ,muteesa 11 (freddie)or even king Ronnie (Mutebi).
Lady Damalie died an Anglican of course with a kilokole version a year or so ago ( her requiem mass was held at Namirembe Cathedral ) and to prove this she was buried at Namirembe. She had one son ( Prince Kalemera Katabazi who lives in USA and Nalinnya Dorothy Nassolo a daughter who stays in Uganda and is very close to Kabaka,). her son being the first born naturally made him a kiwewa ( kiwewa a title given to the first born boy). A Kiweewa doesn't ascend the throne.
That not withstanding in Buganda there are no official and unofficial wives,as there are no legitimate and illegitimate children, all children have equal ranking whether they are from the official wife or not. Actually in the history of Buganda only one king has ascended the throne whose mother was the officially wedded and that was Sir. Edward Muteesa son of Nabagereka Irene Druscilla Namaganda. Hope this throws more light.
