{UAH} African Mind Set of a National Stadium - why not cry !

George

See how the law works - who is responsible for stadium placement in London? Tottenham are building theirs and Ugandans are also doing it at Nakivubo.

Ask kateregga if they consulted the original architectural drawing and site plans for Nakivubo developments - it is a total mess that Uganda is.

How do you build without a permit in the city and build mere cubicles calling them shops around a national stadium,  a long a feaces filled adnd stinking Nakivubo channel - may be I do not understand anything?

KAMPALA Capital City Authority (KCCA) has halted construction works for a commercial building surrounding Nakivubo Stadium pending approval of the building plan.

Sources from KCCA said they had stopped construction works for the building after citing some irregularities that must be rectified first.

Nakivubo Stadium spokesman, Fred Kateregga, confirmed that the construction work was put on hold by KCCA but soon matters will be resolved.

He said they went into partnership with Ham Enterprises while sourcing for funds to clear an outstanding debt of Sh800m with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) which earlier led to the closure of the facility for four months.

He said Nakivubo stadium management agreed with Ham to construct a storied structure surrounding the facility after consultation with the Ministry of Education and Sports which gave them a go-ahead.

Kateregga said they deposited sh400m with URA to open the facility which was closed in April but later opened in July after agreeing to deposit Sh15m on a monthly basis until the outstanding debt with the accrued interest is cleared.

Under the memorandum of understanding, Ham is supposed to take two years to construct the shops. Then they are expected to recoup their investment in the project within five years.

"We neither sold nor leased the stadium land to Ham Enterprises as allegedly perceived by some people but we just went into partnership with the intention of raising funds for management of the facility," said Kateregga.
