{UAH} Aronda takes Immigration officers for military training
Folks;
As is a common practice under President Museveni, this idea by Internal Affairs minister, Gen. Aronda to provide basic military training for Immigration officers, is not going well due to poor management of the program.
I support the idea that our immigration officers should be provided with this kind of training in order to them better guardians of out borders. However, the government ought to make it a public policy, and market it as a new requirement either for continued employment or promotions.
In any case, Immigration officers who opt out for whatever reasons - disability, idealogy, religion, family demands, etc- should not be penalized as this training was not in place at the time of their hiring. So, there would not be forced participation.
But, as usual, Museveni lacks the tact to win over people, even when he's peddling a good idea like this one.
