{UAH} Celebrating the Career, Achievements, and Service of Captain Frank Musisi
Dear Members of the Ugandan Diaspora,
Please join me in congratulating former UNAA President Captain Frank Musisi for being selected as the next Commanding Officer for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 377th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) and will be officially taking command on 19th October 2013 at 4:00PM Central Standard Time in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I will be there with other Ugandans and well-wishers to congratulate one of our own and encourage all of you to come to New Orleans, Louisiana as we witness this very special occasion in our community. Captain Musisi advises anyone who wishes to attend to contact him so you can be granted access to the military base. If you show up and have not been added to the cleared list, you will not be let in.
Biography:
Captain (CPT) Frank Musisi, DML, was born at Bumangi Ssese Islands, Kalangala district, Lake Victoria, Uganda to the late Leopold Beekalaze and late Mauricia Najjuma. He went to Bumangi Primary School and completed primary at Kisubi Boys School in Entebbe. He joined Kako Senior Secondary School for O-level, and completed A-levels (High School) at Caltec Academy, Makerere, Uganda. Frank Musisi is married to his wife Betty and he's a father of five Mirembe, Malaika, Mutenza, Suubi and Valentine.
Frank left Uganda for the U.S. in 1990 where he earned a BSc degree in Information and Computer Science, and a Minor in Management from University of California at Irvine. He also obtained an Associate degree in Computer Science at Los Angeles Valley College in California.
Frank joined the U.S Army in 2000 as an enlisted soldier. Upon completion of Basic and Advanced Individual Training, Frank was assigned to the 31st Combat Support Hospital, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Bliss, Texas from 2001 to 2005. Here among other things he served his first tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In April 2005 Captain Musisi received a Direct Commission from the President of the United States in the U.S Army as 2LT. CPT Musisi graduated from the U.S. Army Logistics University at Fort Lee, Virginia with the following Diplomas; Quartermaster Officer Basic Course in 2006, Petroleum Officer Management Course in 2007, Captain Career Advance Course in 2011, Theater Logistics Planners Course in 2013. In addition SOLE, the International Society of Logistics awarded Capt. Musisi the Demonstrated Master Logistician (DML) Certification in June 2013.
CPT Musisi has been assigned to the 377th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) as a Petroleum Plans Officer in New Orleans, Louisiana since May 2012.
From July 2006 to April 2012: CPT Musisi was assigned to the 311th Sustainment Command Expeditionary (ESC) as the Petroleum Officer in Los Angeles, California. Here among other things in 2008 he was deployed to the Middle East for the second time in Support of Operation Iraq Freedom where he was the Officer in Charge of Distribution Management of Bulk Petroleum for Kuwait and Southern Iraq for the 311th ESC Command. In addition, Capt. Musisi was selected as the 2009 U.S/U.K U.S. Army Reserve Foreign Exchange Officer Program representative in London, England.
CPT Musisi has earned two Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and several other awards. In 2004 Capt. Musisi was admitted into the Association of the United States Army www.ausa.org, the largest non-profit military organization as a life-time member. In addition Capt received the Certificate of Special Congressional Appreciation for Outstanding Community service.
More impressive than his military record is that of his dedicated community service and leadership. President and Founder of Ssese Islands African Aids Project (SIAAP). Strong on community service in 2005 he started an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Ssese Islands called the Ssese Islands African Aids Project (SIAAP) www.siaap to help the people of Kalangala district, Uganda in the fight against HIV/AIDS using current information as key tool. With its headquarters at Bugoma village, in Kalangala district, the organization provides free HIV/AIDS and general medical services to people, and through this effort thousands of lives have been saved.
Frank Musisi served as Volunteer Special Mobilizer for the Buganda Kingdom for the Restoration of Kasubi Tombs in the U.S from 2010 to 2013.
CPT Musisi also served as the President of the Ugandan North American Association, UNAA from 2007 – 2009.
CPT Musisi served as a Founding member and President of the Ugandan Community Organization in California, UCOC from 1998 to 2000
CPT Musisi dedicates SIAAP and all his community work to his late mother, Ms. Mauricia Najjuma who taught him the spirit of hard work, personal courage, selfless service, integrity and respect; values that have shaped his work and life.
