EAC integration- Are citizens players or spectators?

"The intention was to instil in the citizens a new galvanising spirit about what the EAC represents and strives for. It is important to point out, that unlike all other regional economic communities in Africa, the underlying ideology of the EAC rests on a clear resolve and commitment to forge a political federation. The Treaty encapsulates this ideology.
Political unity underlies EAC ideology.

Thus, the EAC is not simply about integration of trade, markets and social, economic and technology activities. A lofty political goal drives its integration agenda. This ultimate goal implies, on the one hand, the realisation of an East African citizenship, and, on the other hand, the emergence of a powerful economic community in which zero-sum politics of winners and losers is eradicated. When realised, this goal would see the inevitable end of the present Treaty establishing the EAC and, in consequence, the end of the enduring agony about how the EAC can achieve a 'people-centred' Community.

By implication, the quest for getting citizens of the EAC countries to be involved in deepening and widening integration would also become redundant. Instead, these citizens of a Federal State of East Africa would enjoy direct powers to elect their leaders and hold them accountable.

Creeping polarising dangers!"

If you want to be duped that the Federation is economic, then go ahead! Guess who wants to be President of this political Federation?
Guess what will happen to Tanzania that has enjoyed a stable political environment?
Guess who wants to be citizen of East Africa with free reign of any country, with one ID?
Were they even in former East Africa? Guess who will be the loser?
Guess who will be Winner-takes-it-all?

"my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.

"Because you have rejected knowledge,
    I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
    I also will ignore your children."

Hosea 4:6

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.

Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)
