Only then, will they be able to realize the country's potentials to transform into a powerful industrious economy in the next couple of decades as is well stipulated in the recently launched Vision 2040.
The message was by the Dutch ambassador to Uganda H.E Alphons J. A. Hennekens at a high level conference on oil and gas in Kampala on Friday.
Alphons said that he and his home government were now convinced that Uganda was on the right path to economic transformation especially considering the gloomy past it has had.
"This was a war torn country not long ago. The rebel insurgencies in the north and western regions were an immense setback that could not be underestimated," he said.
"But all that is now behind you. Government is on the right truck and with primary focus on agricultural transformation, and then development of value addition with the help of the oncoming oil incomes, Uganda will soon be there."
He added, "I have recently been to the Northern regions of Karamoja and West Nile and was astounded by the huge developments in agriculture and trade."
"As the Dutch government we are recommitting out effort towards economic partnership with Uganda thanks to the improvements y you have exhibited. "
"Through our recently adopted Annual Strategic Plan, our yearly USD 20million support to Uganda will be complimented by other forms of collaborations to enhance democracy, rule of law, and economic transformation.
He went on, "Our NGOs back home have also committed another USD 20million particularly to support civil society organizations here in Uganda."
