WHY I WALKED OUT OF THE RWANDA CONFERENCE (Posted on Facebook first)
...........................................................
I had to walk out of the Rwanda Conference today. The speakers, most of them representing the Kagame's government were there to whitewash Kagame's and Rwanda's image. When prof Filip Reyntjens spoke out about the brutality and human right abuses of the Kagame's government. Andrew Mwenda and one Academia ranted on... how wrong the professor was. They classified "Rwanda" as unique and should be treated differently. The Academia called ridiculed the prof that he was "adviser to terrorists"

The last straw came when papers presented by Marco Jowell (PhD student) who is currently independent researcher and consultant on politics of east and central Africa. He was the Political Affairs officer for the UN Group of Experts on DR Congo and Commonwealth Office, presented his papers on "Understanding the Rwandan Defence Force" it was all praises and how professionals these soldiers are. During question/Answer time, I raised my hands relentlessly and no, I was not one of those chosen to ask questions. (this was after several attempts)

So, I went to Marco and asked, if he was asked not to talk about human rights issues and the genocide committed by the Rwanda Defence Force? He said to me " It was not that kind of paper." DAMN, what kind of papers was it?

I told him, why did you not address the issues then, why did you not point out that these army has committed genocide in northern Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Were you not aware of these? He kept saying, "Sorry, sorry, I know what happened in northern Uganda when the RPF were part of NRA and I know what happened in Congo too." I said to him, " 10 million people murdered in Congo and you present to us what Rwanda and Kagame want to see? I am out of this conference!

Before leaving, I said to him " If you want to be "like" do not present misinformation and propaganda to please the genocidal regime of Kagame."

There are people sent straight from Kigali to whitewash... intimidate, ridicule and embarrass people.

I say the Kagame, Museveni and Kabila's regimes are coming to an end. What do you think?
