{UAH} Fwd.e.d, PRISON for animals releasing Toronto circus elephants...

Fwd.ed, Toronto zoo circus ELEPHANTS are

leaving for California, U.S.A. by road, and with

possiblity of death enroute - as explained here.

Have Your Say.

Amb. Ikanos Doyen: Where are the humane society

activists when they are needed? Any ways, Freedoms

for all pipo and animals seems to be materializing:

Logically or not, Kingston penitentiary where we volunteer

- visited while students at Queens U., shut down on Sept. 30,

2013 i.e. 1835-2013. Debates continue on on best correctional alternatives, esp. given many crimes are based on lack anger management knowledge  (related images attached below)

Jimbo:

Elephants going to California?....Is Rob Ford leaving TO?...didn't hear that.

xxx:

What the hell is wrong with politicians, oh I know, for the most part they are self-centered idiots, who think first and foremost about themselves, make decisions on the spur of the moment depending on which way the wind is blowing. Spend money on nonsense and junk that favors the political prostitute. Over all a waste of skin, it is about time to vote these "we know better than you" types right out of office, and off the political stage.

Buffy:

If the monkey McKay can use a helicopter for a fishing trip, then I'm sure the elephants can and should be transported by air.

Gary:

And the zoo morons wonder why attendance is down.(may be up tempoarily because of pandas but genrally down) . Why is that.....because what have they done to improve zoo over the years....NOTHING!! the monorail broke down...they mothballed it....they get rid of animals instead of improving the habitat....they have added no new alternatives at the zoo...why not a water park or a hotel among the animals, a campground outside the fence but within earshot of night noises. so what do they do...get rid of arguably the most popular animal at the zoo....IDIOTS!!!!

Ritheoret:

Free all the animals in the zoo who are imprisoned solely to make money through the admission charges to visitors.

Sandy1is:

I think you should get rid of Zoo's totally. There's absolutely no reason for having them and not letting animals live their own lives. As for Bob Barker, Kudos to you my friend, for stepping up to the plate and offering to help these wonderful elephants. What a compassionate human being you are!

Ahaab on the Toronto cruelty:

It is absolutely senseless and cruel to put these poor creatures through the stress and agony of such a long road trip, the zoo has used and abused these beautiful animals for years, they and the city of TO should put up the cash for the DND to fly them to their new retirement home.
Shame on you city of Toronto and Toronto zoo!

TTera:

I do not understand why there is such stress around these three elephants and a single 80 hour trip in a vehicle designed for this purpose when they have been trained for this event for 2 years. Hundreds of circus elephants are hauled around this planet every single year in horrible vehicles where they are never allowed to rest and out of desperation learn to sleep standing up. That is not natural. The Toronto Zoo elephants had plenty of room to nap if --as agreed by all-- not enough room to roam are well loved and have a family.

They will do spectacularly well. I wish more people would understand the plight of the elephants in circus' like the very abusive Shriner's circus. Those elephants were kept in 10'x10' space each with no food or water in a heatwave a few years ago. Where was the press then?

S.:

91 Elephants were just killed by poachers in Zimbabwe...that means whole families, multiple generations.

The poachers poisoned their water supply
(which, incidentally, means they poisoned every other animal that uses that water, too).

Poison is a horrible way to die.

They took the tusks, leaving the carcasses to rot.

I despise humanity, I wish all animals could live free in the wild, free from poaching or loss of habitat or pollution.

but the elephant poaching problem has now become so bad
that I am starting to think it would be better to round up ALL of them
and put them in...not zoos...but shelters.
Good shelters.

It is far from ideal, but being captive might be better than being dead.

Or worse, Extinct.

But it takes money.

There is an excellent elephant sanctuary in Tennessee that can always use support.
Maybe they can't afford to take the Toronto elephants. Maybe they can't afford to take the Toronto elephants.

Someday they will be gone.

And we will never be able to get them back.

George:

Yes, and almost the same argument can be made for all captives,
Possible emptying of zoos and prisons to California with the chance of death on the journey.

Growth:

Elephants are unique and good to keep them here. However, if we cannot feed and care them well, then good idea to give to others. But I do not think Giant Panda is only for political - this is extremely narrow viewed. It has some political reasons, some trading reasons, but also friendship

- China has always been friendly and peaceful to Canada, and we western countries are less friendly to China until slight improvement recently. Giant Pandas have a place here, also due to their beauty and uniqueness, and we do love them. They are just such a special and unique creature.

mike:

i hope the trip for the elephants goes swell and at the same time are they sending that fool of a baboon they call mayor ford too lol.

- Peace, To The World /
