However concentrating all energies on Kampala City Authority will result into negative developments. Did the Honourable minister know that Kampala City will have no water sources and resources in the next coming 10-15 years?

Lake Victoria is dying and very fast!

 

Did the honourable minister know that matatu exhaust fumes especially sulphur in motorised vechicles is contributing to the death of Lake Victoria?

There should be combined city development strategies e.g. Town Councils, Municipalities and Cities jointly working together to optimise the economies of scale in the following areas;

1. Urban Transport / Mass Transport - Jinja - Kampala, Luwero - Kampala, Entebbe - Kampala, Mpigi - Kampala 

2. Urban Waste handling - wasting enormous natural and financial resources on building dams when garbage from Jinja, Mukono and Kampala, Wakiso, Kampala and Hoima, Kampala –Bombo and Luwero can run turbines to generate electricity is mind-boggling. Cose down Kitezi and build Waste/garbage based electricity-generating facilities.

c. Localisation and placement of Super markets  - why are supermarkets built in the middle of the city instead of in between towns so that the wide population can use the same facilities i.e. Mukono – Kampala havig supermarkets in Namanve, Jinja and Mukono have supermarkets at Mbiko, Mpigi – Kampala having super markets at Kyengera and so on?

4. Simultaneously develop other town councils and municipalities will generate synergy in resource utilisation and sharing.

 

5. Housing should be placed between towns not in towns, cities in order to utilise transport system optimisation.

 

6. The above should apply to other services (pubic utilities) like; water facilities, telecommunication nodes, transport nodes, sports facilities, medicare facilities etc. Why build four hospitals in Kampala when you can place one in between Kampala and Mpigi, Luwero and Kampala, Mukono and Kampala – bye the way now where do people from Mpigi, Mukono, Wakiso etc have to get their medicare?

 

7. I hear NRM asking people to offer land to set up industries. Industries can't be placed anyhow. Industries should be placed in between towns to benefit the wider majority of the people as it is with urban transport. Further still industries can be lethal to human and environmental well-being – place industries strategically not in Kampala wetlands and hills.
