China is building industries for you, roads for you, buildings for you? They are really generous and anti-colonialist, anti- imperialist our Asia friends.
What is the total value of Uganda fixed assets in dollars- as of now we ave nothing!
Ugandans in Gulu were jubilant to see a 1900 locomotive rolling in – it was thrilling. NRM had constructed the first railway line up north!
It was a miracle rather than an embarrassment.
The French developed a high speed railway in less than ten years. This was copied by UK, Germany. The Swede developed their x2000, tested it and constructed a high speed railway line in less than six years!
Who designed Kampala-Jinja Road and who will build it – of course the Japanese and not Uganda National Road Authority!
Even road construction funding is coming from outside. The road construction machines are coming from of course Japan or elsewhere.
Uganda new parliament is designed by the Chinese, funded by the Chinese and is being constructed by the Chinese.
The Nile Bridge is designed, funded and constructed by the Japanese with Japanese material. This will probably be the same trend with the construction of the railway.
The Uganda office of the president – the fountain of honour, is designed by Chinese architects and building engineers with Chinese architecture, funded by the Chinese and built by the Chinese with Chinese material.
The so called satellite city in Naguru-Nakwa is designed by the Irish – NHCC all these year has not made money to fund such an investment!
What happened to the National Housing Construction Corporation? It paid for Gaddafi's weapons used to kill people in Luwero –Libya owns it and can't design bridges, roads, or president offices but it making lots of money!
NRM has totally dismembered this country. 50 years we can't design a road, construct it and we do not produce even the material used in those construction projects– it is time NRM sought to leave the political space to other players.
Uganda government should wake up and do the right things
We are spending so much money and borrowing from China as well, as if china is a salvation army. I really do not understand if there are any measures made to stop borrowing and importing at the same time from one country?
You can imagine the trade deficit coupled with huge loans and deskilling Ugandans!
This country is on sale by NRM. If NRM as a party can't see what we see or what UPC could do in the 60´s then let say goodbye to the country.
But I can help in this case since it is a very serious one.
If I was in government I will do the following instead:
Set up three industrial locations with China funds if they refuse to hell with them – these should be placed in:
a. Adjumani or Amuru
b. Bulambuli or Kamuli
c. Rwengo or Sembabule
Machines and Tools: One industrial location will manufacture machines and tools imported from china and elsewhere since these do not need a lot of technological input.
Electrical and Electronics: One industrial location will be to manufacture or low technological assemble electronics and electrical items
Home and Household: one industrial location will manufacture all items for home and household items
Free time equipments: sports and enjoyment equipment.
