The ceremony was conducted on Saturday at State House Entebbe.

According to Sarah Kagingo, the Special Presidential Assistant on Communications, President Museveni appointed the Committee with the task of looking into the Muslim community wrangles comprised of a team of 3 members from the Government, 3 from Kibuli and 3 from Old Kampala.

He welcomed the report and said that he would meet the Committee soon to work out a program based on the road map proposed that will conclude with a united leadership and Muslim Community following a new constitution.

The constitution will be composed by all the parties in the Muslim community.

The Chairman, Prof. Kabwegyere revealed that basing on their findings all the Muslims in Uganda want unity.

The committee said that the unity will be guaranteed by a review of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council constitution.

It proposed that all the Muslim properties should be under a property trust so that they are registered and protected against encroachment.

They observed that this will eliminate one of the major causes of wrangles within the Muslim leadership which translates into conflicts in the community.

The committee recommended that there should be a Judiciary tribunal to address all the Muslim property wrangles and put an end to them.

The Joint Muslim Committee Chairman Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere was confident presentation of the report to the President would lead to a new era in the Uganda Muslim affairs. He said that this would lead to a fundamental change.

The other members on the committee are: Isaac Musumba who represented the Government, the Kibuli team comprised of Hajji Mohammed Kisambira, Sheikh Kirya and Faizal Mukasa and the Old Kampala team, Dr. Kasenene, Sheikh Sesimba and Hajji Musana.
