The Uganda Dental and Medical Practitioners Council (UMDPC) is to reprimand Dr. Bingi who is implicated in the death of one Nakamya Florence.

UMDPC is a reputable Council that protects society from abuse of medical and dental practitioners as well as research on human beings.

Dr Katumba Ssentongo Gubale, the UMDPC registrar, said on Friday they as a body are concerned about regarding Br. Bingi's medical ethics and professionalism.

"We have received a formal complaint filed by the deceased's husband, Mpanga Stephen, with support from the Center for Human Rights and
Development (CEHURD). We shall investigate and if we find Dr. Bingi's behaviour wanting, he will have his licensed revoked," said Katumba.

Nakamya, a resident of Mukono, succumbed to death last Saturday after suffering unassisted incredibly painful and obstructed labor.

Dr. Bingi was charged in Mukono court with manslaughter on Wednesday and remanded.

Moses Mulumba the lead counsel from CEHURD representing Mpanga said they had petitioned the council to protect other Ugandans from going through the same.

"If Dr. Bingi acted unethically or an professionally the Council should revoke his license to teach others a lesson much as the criminal case is on-going," he said.

Dr. Katumba said the Ethics Committee chaired by Dr. Mungherera will sit immediately and find out if Dr. Bingi is worth investigating.

"If they find out that there are grounds then they will write to him to defend himself before the Council sits to determine his fate," he said.

According to the standing rules and regulations, should the respondent be found guilty of unprofessional and unethical conduct, he would be warned, placed on probation, suspended from practice for a prescribed period or erased from the register. Ends
