{UAH} Ruto wants ICC trial to continue
Folks:
I applaud deputy president Ruto for choosing to have his ICC trial continued, albeit with some modifications to allow him time to attend to government duties.
This is how it shoudl be; let the trial go on so that he and Uhuru get the chance to clear their names and prompto. By insisting that his trial be postponed indefinitely, Uhuru is keeping alive the suspicion that he is afraid of the case against him. He should emulate his deputy and get this whole thing done with.

Deputy President William Ruto has said Kenya has formally filed to the United Nation Security Council an application for the deferral of the cases at the International Criminal Court.
The deputy president who is currently on trial at the The Hague, however, said that he preferred that the cases proceed but he be excused from continuous attending the trial, as the court had earlier ruled.
He and President Uhuru Kenyatta both face charges of crimes against humanity at the ICC resulting from the 2007/08 post-election violence.
The deputy president said his preference was in the interest of pursuing justice for victims and to get a chance to clear his name in court while at the same time be able to discharge his responsibility to the Kenyan people.
"It is our preference to follow the route that has already been agreed to by the court hat there should be excusal of continuous attendance so as to balance the scale of requirements to comply and to work in the interests of justice and accountability by making sure that this case proceeds in court while balancing the legitimate expectations of the Kenyan people.."
Mr Ruto noted there were legitimate reasons for deferral of the case to give Kenya the chance to handle security challenges in the region including the threat of terrorism through the activities of Al Shabaab. He said this was important especially with Kenya having its troops in Somalia.
"It is clear that the President and myself need every space to deal with that challenge even as we pursue the interests of justice and balancing it with the responsibility of running the country," he said.
The deputy president criticised the Prosecution, saying it had failed to do proper investigations, adding that several applications had been filed for the case to be terminated because the Prosecution had failed in their mandate.
