{UAH} Sharing the Eleventh Edition of the Black Monday Newsletter

Dear Colleagues and Partners,

We are pleased to share with you the Eleventh Edition of the Black Monday Newsletter. This edition focuses on Land and how greed has fueled the gruesome act of land grabbing. It takes into account the fact that land grabbing deprives fellow citizens of life and dignity.

You can find it on this link: http://ngoforum.or.ug/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2013/10/October-2013-Black-Monday-Newsletter2.pdf

An interesting piece is a senior citizen's take on the land give away bonanzas in the guise of development. There is a lot of information on the different land grabbing and exploitation scenarios across the country. The loss of self-worth is mostly emphasized in the center spread where the pictorial and the land grabbing reports are well articulated.

Special thanks go to Uganda Land Alliance (ULA) that supported the coordinating team to ensure that we have yet another edition of the Black Monday Newsletter.

We hope to insert the copies in one of the daily newspapers within this week for wider sharing. They will be some copies available at the NGO Forum, ULA and other organizations that have been instrumental in spreading the newsletter countrywide.

Our colleagues at ULA have organized a number of activities in light of the month's theme like the land awareness week, and countrywide rural women assemblies. They will keep us informed of the proceedings and how we can participate.

We also had some of the market vendors in Owino Market sharing the newsletter this morning which went well with a high media presence. Unfortunately one of us ; Job Kiija was arrested after addressing the media who were covering the event. He was held at Old Kampala Police station for close to 5 hours and later released on Police Bond with charges of organizing an unlawful assembly and inciting violence.

We believe that the time to raise up is now and everyone has role to play. Let us all spread the word and share this edition.

Kind Regards,

Eunice Musiime Kataaha
