Fire has gutted Gulu main Market destroying property worth millions of shillings. Gulu main Market is located at Kawunda ground in Gulu Municipality.

The Monday night inferno affected areas, where restaurants are located, chicken and shoes stalls among others.

Gulu District Police Commander, Denis Odoch, said they learnt about the fire at 11 pm and sent a team to put it off.  

He told New Vision on Tuesday that it took them four hours to put out the fire.

Gulu Municipality Mayor, George Labeja asked vendors to list all the property that were lost in the fire and urged them to be calm.

According to Geoffrey Opiyo Obama, the Chairman Gulu Main Market Vendors Association, a total of 167 vendors, were affected but the amount of damaged caused, had not yet been established.
