If you thought POMA was the zenith of political madness listen to this, the government has drafted a new NGO law. The NGO (Registration)Amendment Bill 2013 is in its final stages of being tabled in parliament. The Aronda project is coming around. Immigration Officers taking military training, police to train at Kyankwanzi and now a new NGO law? Forget civil liberties. These hard-nosed folks don't give a hoot.
These NGOs will soon turn into Now Governed Organisations..I.imagine their Memoranda of Understanding will first be scrolled through and amended if need be by the powers that be...next they will be sent to boot camp too?
Unfortunately it seems Aronda hasn't woken up yet from the shock of being dropped as CDF! I was just watching NTV Kenya and a similar move is being protested by NGOs. Is it an 'EAC' thing? it seems the coalition of the willing is now a hub for exchange of controversial laws.
