FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES: Justin Juuko (R) poses with Mike Tyson recently

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson could visit Uganda next year on a charity initiative promoted by retired fighter Justin Juuko.

Juuko, who recently met and spoke with Tyson, is optimistic the legendary boxer will make the trip to Uganda by June, 2014.

"He has a lot of interest in travelling to Africa; so, he responded positively when I introduced the idea," Juuko said about his meeting with Tyson in Las Vegas early this month.

According Juuko, the retired American ring superstar would officiate at a gala banquet organized to pay tribute to Uganda's sports legends.

"We plan to have a big Uganda Sports Legends tribute where sports legends are ranked from one to ten with Mike awarding them," Juuko disclosed today.

But for the trip to happen, Juuko said sponsors and probably the state must support his initiative. "Mike is very big to host; so, sponsorship is important," noted Juuko.

Meanwhile, Africa Boxing Union (ABU) light welterweight title hopeful Solomon Bogere has declared readiness to stop Malawian opponent Osgood Kayuni this Saturday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Bogere, who boasts of eleven wins including ten knockouts and one loss, stated today: "I can't wait to take him out; I am in great shape for the fight."
