KAMPALA - The Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Lwanga has said that those who have complaints about the operations of Pope Paul Memorial Hotel should write down their grievances so that he can work on them other than plotting to kill him.

It is the first time he has spoken out on the reported attempt to end his life.

There have emerged allegations that a group of workers at the Catholic Church-led hotel and a witchdoctor were clandestinely plotting to kill him over the way he runs the hotel.

Lwanga said: "I forgive them, but they should write their problems down and we shall work on them."

Police is investigating the claims and already some staff at the Rubaga-based hotel and the witchdoctor have been arrested to help with investigations.

Addressing the flock on Saturday at Rubaga Cathedral, Lwanga revealed he has been receiving constant telephone calls from friends and concerned Ugandans over the allegations.

"I told them that I don't know about it. I was not here. I was in Vienna, Austria attending a religion for peace conference.

"There is no one who has ever come to me with an intention to kill me. The problem is with our people – who work at Pope Paul Memorial," he said.

Lwanga was speaking at the Kampala Archdiocesan day celebrations to mark the end of the Catholic faith year calendar and also the 88 years of the Cathedral.

The Ambassador of the Holy See to Uganda, Archbishop Michael Blume led the mass.
