{UAH} Mr.Buwembo Ali: An Abbey Semuwemba can Marry a Prince Komuntale!
Brother Ali,
Walaikum Musalamu, brother. With due respect, my understanding is some
countries such as Malaysia strictly prohibit marriages between a
Muslim and a non-Muslim regardless of the sex, but Islam allows a
Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim lady from the people of the book
(i.e. those who follow the original teachings of Moses and Jesus,
pbuh), according to Chapter 5: verse 5 of the Quran.
''Lawful unto you in marriage are chaste women who are believers and
chaste women among the people of the book '' -al-Maidah, 5:5.
Thus, it would be permissible, in principle, for Muslim men to marry
women from the people of the book (ahl al-Kitab) namely Christian and
Jewish girls though this is also subjected to certain conditions.
That said, a Muslim woman isn't allowed whatsoever to marry anyone
besides a Muslim man, and even if she did, the marriage will not be
valid in Islam.
Allah knows better!
