A militia in eastern DRC.

The warlord movement Nduma defense of Congo (NDC) Ntabo Ntaberi Sheka, said he is ready to abandon the rebellion provided that the militia be amnestied and integrated into the army or national police force . Sheka noted in a letter to the head of the Congolese government and the international community. Reacting to this correspondence was received Friday, November 8, the Governor of North Kivu, Julien Paluku asked the warlord to lay down arms at the risk of being forced. It recalls that it is no longer a question of integrating the army militia collectively.

In its specifications, Major General proclaimed Ntabo Ntaberi Sheka also requests the Government to recognize the grades they are awarded.

The head of the NDC also requires the transformation of its armed movement into a political party and the cancellation of all national and international lawsuits including its armed group the subject. He is currently under arrest warrants issued by the Congolese authorities in January 2010 mandate. Sheka is charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The militia leader asks the government a rational analysis of these claims in order to make a positive response.

The Governor of North Kivu, in turn, rejected all these claims and called Sheka and other armed groups that abound in the area to disarm otherwise required to do so:

"You can not ask us to make an army and continue to incorporate criminals. Two, you know that there are grave crimes such as war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. If all these rebels are subject to this type of crime, it will not issue the pardon,"he said.

NDC fighters, mostly ethnic Nyanga, and those of the Alliance for a Free and Sovereign Congo (APCLS) of ethnic Hunde live at loggerheads in the town of Pinga, about 200 km north- west of Goma (North Kivu), since 2010.

The leaders of the two communities are trying to reconcile the two armed groups, without success.

The clashes, the latest of which dates back to October 20, have disastrous consequences on the social and economic life of the people of this country. Hundreds of families still live in difficult conditions.

The head of MONUSCO, Martin Kobler, said he was considering urgent solutions to the security situation in that country he visited Friday, November 8. It is occupied by the men of Nduma Defense of Congo (NDC)
