Sevo Reconsiders Ian Clarke’s Lord Mayoral Choice, fears the Mzungu may be Difficult to Control, Bins Godfrey Nyakaana bid and Lightens Nakawa Mayor Ben Kalumba Chances

By Stephen K Muwambi

News sipping in from State House indicates that President Museveni is getting cold feet over the hitherto favorite to replace Erias Lukwago as Lord Mayor.

The NRM party had zeroed on Makindye Mayor Ian Clarke Busuulwa as the best replacement for Lukwago. This is because Ian Clarke is developmental, acceptable among both the business community and common man, can attract investors and money from outside the country and above all is beyond petty politics.

Following intelligence scrutiny, we understand Clarke’s rating is on the nosedive.

“Intelligence has since told Mzee that Clarke being a loaded Mzungu can be too principled to be bent; a trait that cause a problem, an inside source intimated to us.

Intelligence has also been scrutinizing Clarke’s articles where he proved to be an uncompromising when it comes to accountability and service delivery issues.

“Drawing from his writings, Clarke can prove another headache for Jennifer Musisi just like Lukwago who was exposing accountability and service delivery deficiencies and by extension, rolling government and Mzee ( Museveni) in the mud, the source explained.

Enter Kalumba

With Clarke’s possible fronting muddled with questions, Sevo has turned to scrutinizing Nakawa Mayor Ben Kalumba’s credentials.

Kalumba’s strong point is that he is unquestionably NRM. Sevo is particularly in love with Kalumba, sources made us understand, after he helped him uproot DP oldman and perennial Nakawa LC111 chairman Hajj Protansio Kintu.

“Mzee is looking at rewarding Kalumba for uprooting the headache that was Kintu, the screening team told us.

Kalumba is also credited for his good working relations with Museveni’s appointed KCCA Chief Executive Director (CED) madam Jennifer Musisi Ssemakula.

Ssebuggwawo

Though an FDC member, Museveni finds Joyce a principled lady who has not confused service delivery with politics like Lukwago. In fact, our sources told us, Museveni looks at Joyce as another John Ssebaana Kizito who worked with him and NRM though he was from DP.

“She has had a good working relationship with Jennifer. In particular, she worked with Jennifer to fix the Royal Mile that proved a success and earned political capital for NRM from Mengo, Joyce’s supporters on Sevo’s screening team argued.

Nyakana

Though NRM, Godfrey blurred his chances when he hobnobbed with Lukwago to the extent of openly criticizing Jennifer.

“ That he appeared in Parliament as Lukwago’s witness and even opposed Mzee’s move to take over Kampala, was the last straw that broke the camel’s back,  our impeccable sources told us.

However, all this is being considered in case the bye-election, one of the terms set by Justice Bamugemereire tribunal, is ruled out.
