{UAH} Biographies of Bunyoro-Kitara great personalities, in pipeline, starting with Masindi's Eryeza Katabarwa

Dear All

Bunyoro-Kitara being the cradle of the kingdoms in the Great Lakes region has produced some very great brains. But the world does not know them. Yet they achieved great feats in life which would serve as exemplary to everybody especially the young generations.

Banyoro have excelled and distinguished themselves in many fields, but their achievements go unnoticed.

We have decided to write their biographies so that their achievements can be shown to the world.

Crispus Biribonwa Kalizo of Kaaruguuza, Kibaale.

We have people like Crispus Kalizo Biribonwa whose parents were illiterate and extremely poor, but Biribonwa toiled and earned money from pig-rearing at the age of six. He combined with poultry and farming and he put himself to school through Primary, secondary and University. He earned  two degrees but, unbelievably, he abandoned medical employment. Now he is a very successful, farmer, a businessman who also operates a famous Laboratory Service at  Wandegeya, Kampala.

Eryeza Katabarwa of Masindi.

In this particular case, the book which is nearing completion, we have Eryeza Katabarwa who began money-making life as a milk vendor. He grew up to become a bus and lorry driver, ending up doing produce buying and selling, and bought land and transformed wild land into successful farming enterprises.

But what makes Katabarwa very famous is that the food he produced on his lands was enough in 1943-45 famine to feed virtually the whole of Masindi and Hoima residents who would otherwise starve because of absence of food.
He saved thousands of lives from the food he produced individually.

Yozefu Basiima of Mugarama, Kituuma

Another Munyoro achiever is Yozefu Basiima of Kibaale who was such a devouted teacher that he single-handedly went around villages collecting children/pupils who had not gone to school. He would bundle out hundreds of such children and  take them to school and, if their parents had no school fees he would pay it personally from his personal funds.

The Baitwa Brothers of Masindi.

These are four brothers who began very humbly but today they are operating  a huge very  successful business in the Customs Clearance and Handling, and Transportation Business. Their company, THREEWAYS SHIPPING SERVICES operates over 800 huge lorry truck haulers doing international business but specialising in Africa.

There are hundreds such very enterprising Banyoro but the wolrd does not know what they are and what they do.

In order to fill up that vacuum some we have decided to write the life histories of these Banyoro great personalities.

Books about these people are in final stages. They will soon be in the bookshops. Today we begin with Eryeza Katabarwa (See Photo attached) of,Masnidi District, Bujenje county, Kiina village.
