{UAH} FW: Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

Great son of AFRICA. Great man. He has run his race and finished well. He has fought the good fight. He was an exemplary leader. And a true leader. After all those 20+ years in jail, he decided to lead for only one term and stepped down to be led by another. This is a man who had a mature mind, a compassionate heart, and lived his later days enjoying life as a retired President. He knew that one could retire in his own country, be led by another, and live like everybody else.

What a shame to all those African leaders who have refused to step down, lifted term limits, rig elections, kill at will steal with no stopping in sight, have never been to prison, have enthroned themselves mini kings, want and have their sons as their heirs to rule with a hand of iron!!

'Sometimes, it falls upon a generation to be great.'
Pay tribute to Nelson Mandela and share his powerful words today.

Dear Jessica (Friends),

Nelson Mandela's unwavering courage, forgiveness and hope touched and inspired people all around the world. He showed that the dream of a just society is possible and he challenged our generation to lead the way towards it.

As Mandela said in his extraordinary 2005 speech in London's Trafalgar Square, 'Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.'

And he ended his speech with a call that moves us still.

'Sometimes,' Mandela said, 'it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.'

One way to honor Nelson Mandela's memory is to share those words to prove every day that this generation can be the great one that ends extreme poverty.

Share his words now.
