{UAH} Fwd: Color of the Skin.

To the Editor, Monitor (Nation Media).

Dear Sirs/Madam;

Must the skin colour of black people be described as light and dark? How ludicrous! This is the umpteenth time i am reading such description in your newspapers. Is it not this fallacy that the white man used to confuse and divide black people with?. 

Like this one from the piece entitled, "Resolution again? Yes, we cannot run from them." Dated 29Th Dec 13. 

I had one of those conversations we call small talk about the end of year with Susan, a light skinned administrator at one of the Uganda Water and Sewage Corporation branches 

Just last week or so in the Monitor, there was a piece on a well known black architect from London (Adjyei), who the writer went on to describe as the "dark skinned architect"....As if his colour had anything to do with his work!

I think the editor should/could do better; such description are borne of inferiority complex and ignorance. There is only white and black races, the rest are, Asians and orientals.

I hope your newspaper takes note of this backward language, a throw back from the apartheid era; and the difficulty it places on those African men and women (Black Bleaches), whose "newyear's resolution", is to kick off their addiction to bleach creams!.
