Outclassed, outgunned, outwitted and - let me use my poetic license - 'out debated.' That was what became of Minister for General Duties Prof. Tarsis Bazana Kabwegyere last night on NTV's premium Talk show On The Spot when he debated former FDC Presdent Dr. Kizza Besigye. The professor of Sociology was hapless as Col. Besigye, a medical doctor routinely challenged him on historical facts! Reminds me of 2005 or thereabouts when the late Eriya Kategaya was falling out with the system over the lifting of presidential term limits. He told off a no-term limits adherent Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka, saying Kiwanuka was a professor of history who didn't know history! Thank you NTV and Patrick Kamara for bringing me what is arguably my best On The Spot of 2013. But I hope your last show this year next Thursday will be the crown on the jewel
rtd. col. is a man at the top of his game hence anyone facing him had better prepare- very well.Kabwegyere should have kept with the NRM style of avoiding debate - the NRM high priest himself has avoided debate with Besigye many times. The good old Prof. should have left such to hard tacklers like Ofwono Opondo.the man was recently 'rehabilitated' and brought back to cabinet after sometime in the cold following his loss of the Igara West seat to Raphael Magyezi. He has not only to work but also be seen to be working. The greying Prof. has written several articles in the state-owned The New Vision sharply criticizing Dr. Besigye's 'methods.' Besides, he is the Minister for General Duties - you see the meaning - in the Office of the Prime Minister. BTW does that ring a bell?
I remember cantankerous Odonga Otto telling Kwabwegere at Makerere '' you cannot teach a nursery school''( never mind that he actually taught Otto).
